Small Business Risk Prosecution!!!

Cuttingredtape As of 1st January 2007 businesses with a website and/or who use email must comply with new E-commerce Regulations. Yet, despite a raft of publicity surrounding this change in the law, many businesses (particularly small ones) have not as yet implemented the new rules, leaving themselves vulnerable.

For further information on the legal implications check out Pinsent Masons' website for e-commerce:

Make Your Voice Heard

Announcement_1

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing could be very bad news indeed for   business road users. Not only will you having to purchase a tracking device for your car but you'll also have to start paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a NIP with your monthly bill.

There is a petition on No 10's new website to protest against this bill to make sure you make your voice heard:

Using My Space to Generate Tons

Myspace_1 MySpace is now a common place name in most households. Frequently used by musicians, martial arts fighters and even porn stars its growth has been nothing short of incredible.

Rumored to be generating between 100,000 - 200,000+ new members on a DAILY basis, it's a marketers dream come true.

And why's that?Internet Advertising have traditional advertising agency's running scared.

    People are...

CHOOSING what advertisements they want to watch..

CHOOSING what groups they wish to join and what cultures...

This is called social networking and is a truly amazing thing.

Before people used to watch tv and watch what was 'on the box' Now they can go online download what songs they want, view what videos they want to see.

       People now have choices...

This is what makes My Space a marketers dream.

The secret to marketing with MySpace is to "slide into a group" and portray your marketing message without people even realizing they are being sold to.

It's where stealth marketing really does come into play.

Traffic is waiting to be stolen by the bucket loads and for any astute marketer who has the right information to make it happen it's a dream come true.

    A Fabulous Day Out

Castle_image_3 On Sunday I went to the Grand Scottish Prom.  It takes place on... well... the front lawn of Glamis Castle.  Very kind of the Earl of Strathmore don't you think?

Glamis Castle is a place of legends and fairytales.' Family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne and a royal residence since 1372. Childhood home of  The Queen Mother,  and legendary setting for Shakespeare's famous play 'Macbeth'.

It's a fun event - we took some chairs and a table; a hamper full of delicious food and some wine of course.  Some groups were obviously professionals when it comes to outdoor events.  They had long tables covered in crisp white linen table cloths, candles and even the odd candelabra.

The sun split the sky until it disappeared behind the trees in the evening.  We ate and chatted in the afternoon whilst the SNO (Scottish National Orchestra) treated us to a pre-concert rehearsal.  Then at 7.30 p.m. they reappeared, in formal attire.    The music was fantastic, with Skylarks overhead and birds in the surrounding trees joining in, the atmosphere was wonderful.Glamis_proms_3

The final piece the SNO played was the William Tell Overture.  The music was accompanied by the most fantastic synchronised firework display.  Truly awesome  (and that's not a word we Scottish people use lightly!).   There were quiet sparkly fireworks for the quiet sections - huge loud exploding bursts of colour for the louder sections - soooo clever.  A real art form I'd say.

Excellent live music, lovely sunshine, fresh air, good company, tasty food...Oh, and did I mention the wine?

    Cheers!
